APA POOLPLAYER CHAMPIONSHIPS (Effective Oct 2018)
~ Singles Competition ~
8-BALL CLASSIC and 9-BALL SHOOTOUT
The "APA Poolplayer Championships" program includes three levels:
FIRST: THE 'LOCAL QUALIFIER'
** All entrants must be current APA members and listed on the roster of an active 8-Ball Team (for 8-Ball competition) or 9-Ball Team (for 9-Ball competition)
** A player's skill level must be based on at least ten (10) scores and all
10 scores must have occurred within the last two (2) years
** Entry fee $20.00 per person per Board (w/ 8 players) or $160.00 per Board
** Minimum 4 players are required to compete in each Local Qualifier Board
** Local Qualifiers may be "Open", "Men only" or "Ladies only"
** All APA game rules apply
** No coaches or coaching allowed
** Tournament format is single elimination, race to 'grid' skill level
** All winners must maintain current membership and remain active in the format qualified to advance to Regional and National levels
** The APA will have the option to disqualify any player whose skill level raises two (2) or more levels during the entire course of the program
SECOND: THE 'REGIONALS'
** There is NO entry fee for the Regional event
** “Local Board” winners advance Regionally and Nationally to the Skill Level Tier that corresponds with their skill level
** The Regional Tournaments are divided into two Seasons
Players qualifying between January 1 and June 15 will participate in Season One Regionals; generally held the beginning of October
Players qualifying between June 16 and November 30 will participate in
Season Two Regionals; generally held late February, early March
** These are the Skill Level Tiers for competition:
8-Ball Blue Tier (SL 2 & 3)
         Yellow Tier (SL 4)
         Red Tier (SL 5)
         Orange Tier (SL 6)
         Purple Tier (SL 7)
9-Ball Green Tier (SL 1, 2 & 3)
         White Tier (SL 4 & 5)
         Gray Tier (SL 6 & 7) 
         Black Tier (SL 8 & 9)
Winners from each Tier advance from the Regional Level to the National Level
** Tournament format is modified single elimination for Regional and National
THIRD: THE NATIONAL LEVEL CALLED 'APA POOLPLAYER CHAMPIONSHIPS'
** There is NO entry fee at the national level for the Poolplayer Championship
** Winners of the 'Regional' event will receive lodging and airfare allowance at the
National Level; generally held the end of April
** FIRST PLACE IS $15,000.00 in 8-Ball (8-Ball Classic) cash & prizes / EACH tier
** FIRST PLACE IS $10,000.00 in 9-Ball (9-Ball Shootout) cash & prizes / EACH tier
